On November 4, 2009, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Carlton County Deputies responded to the 2900 block of County Road 61 south of Mahtowa, where a homeowner reported she awoke to a woman unknown to her standing in her kitchen, rummaging through cupboards. The homeowner confronted the woman, who then fled the home an left in a car. The homeowner called 911 and was able to give a good description of the woman and the car. A short time later, deputies located the car traveling down the road west of Mahtowa.

Catherine Marie Kasberg, 20 years old of Skelton Township in Carlton County, was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Burglary and Attempted Theft. Bail was set at $50,000.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness.  A family support group meets in Cloquet at 6:00 p.m., on the third Friday of the month, at the Outreach Center, 24 10th St..  For information, call Kevin or Carol at 218-384-9956.
