Sheldon Clark CartieSheldon Clark Cartie, 48, of Moose Lake, formerly of Brainerd, died Friday, November 20, 2009 in St. Cloud Hospital. He was born September 9, 1961 in Duluth to John Duane and Dorothy Mae (Clark) Cartie. Sheldon was a Navy Veteran, serving 7 years as a Naval Air Electronic Technician, stationed in Lake Hurst, NJ for 4 years and Antarctica and New Zealand for 3 years. Sheldon went on to become a Registered Nurse and also owned the Ossipee Store and Grill. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, all sports and once won a truck on The Price Is Right.

Sheldon is preceded in death by his father, John Cartie; step-father Douglas Collette and his grandparents.

Sheldon is survived by his mother, Dorothy Collette of Moose Lake; 17 month old son, Tyson John Michael Cartie of Crosby; 2 brothers, Steven (Nancy) Cartie of Stafford, TX and Chris (Sandy) Collette of San Diego, CA; 4 sisters, Susan Cartie of Hackensack, Sandra Cartie of Princeton, NJ, Marci Mohelsky of Rosemont and Kelly Barsness of Eagen; nieces and nephews, Justin Eller, Vanessa Bong Korhonen, Bryan (Amy) Cartie, Sarah Cartie, Brady and Bryce Barsness, Zachary Barsness and Chanel Collette.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, November 28, 2009 from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Inurnment will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Brainerd. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sheldon’s son, Tyson for his education fund.
