Letter of the Editor;

To the candidates /campaign committees for the various political offices:

Campaign season is well under way and I would like to take this time to remind the candidates and/or their committees that Minnesota Statutes 211 B.11, subdivision 1 prohibits soliciting near polling places. More particularly, a person may not display campaign materials, post signs, or solicit in any manner, a voter within a polling place or within 100 feet of the building in which a polling place is situated. I ask those of you with campaign signs in your yards to heed this statute and remove any campaign signs/materials that are at or near any of the polling places within Carlton County. If you should have any questions as to the polling place locations, please contact the Carlton County Auditor’s Office.

Sincerely,
Paul G. Gassert
Carlton County
Auditor/Treasurer
