 Sloan Sophia Olean, daughter of Shawn and Melissa Olean, is the first baby of the new year born at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake. Sloan entered the world on January 2, 2010, at 10:42 am, weighing 9 lbs., 12 oz. and measuring 20 1/2 inches in length. Sloan joins her family of two older brothers, Cade, age 7, and Jace, age 4, in Sturgeon Lake. Her maternal grandparents are Dale and Sue Sloan of Esko, and paternal grandparents are Steve and Lu Olean of Carlton. As the first baby of the new year, Sloan is gifted with a $100 savings bond from the Moose Lake Chamber of Commerce and $210 from the Star Gazette.
