Royal Diner and Drive-In to Open

Moose Lake’s newest business, the Royal Diner and Drive-in on the Lake Chevrolet lots is announcing their opening on Friday of this week at 4 p.m. They will be serving short order lunches, sandwiches full dinners, etc. The business will be open 24-hours every day. Lloyd Johnson is manager and operator of the diner.

The DNR will conduct a public auction

The Department of Natural Resources will conduct a public auction on Saturday August 25th, consisting of firearms and fishing equipment confiscated from violators of the state game and fish laws.

The auction will be held at the St. Paul Capitol Hill National Guard Armory auditorium, located at 12th and Cedar Streets, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Women arrested in Kerrick band robbery attempt

The First National Bank of the North, Kerrick Branch was struck with robbery on Tuesday shortly before 2: 00 p.m.

One lone woman was apprehended after a car chase that ended on Pine County 44, east of Bruno.

According to the Pine County Sheriff’s Department, the woman demanded and received an unspecified amount of cash and left in a 1989 Buick Century with Iowa License plates. The car later turned out to be stolen from Cherokee, Iowa.

All of the stolen money was recovered.

Investigators from the FBI out of Duluth were still trying to determine the woman’s identity as of 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Charges are still pending.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness.  A family support group meets in Cloquet at 6:00 p.m., on the third Friday of the month, at the Outreach Center, 24 10th St..  For information, call Kevin or Carol at 218-384-9956.
