Grand Casino Mille Lacs to host donation drive for Confidence Learning Center
The Lend a Hand program at Grand Casino Mille Lacs is hosting a “stuff the truck” donation drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, to benefit the Confidence Learning Center, formally known as Camp Confidence.
New and gently-used household items, such as dishes, small working appliances, silverware, decorative items, glassware, cleaning supplies, and office supplies will be accepted.  The drive will be held in the winter ballroom at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs Events & Convention Center.  Any guest who donates an item worth $5 or more will receive $5 in Grand Play.
Donations will help the Camp Confidence Learning Center in the Brainerd area, which benefits people with developmental disabilities.
On September 16, the “stuffed truck” along with Lend a Hand volunteers from the casino’s facilities department will go to the Confidence Learning Center to ready the camp for its annual fundraising auction.  Associates will clean the pole barn, detail donated cars, set up the auction space, and more.
“Many charitable organizations have struggled in this economy, and we wanted to do what we could to help,” said Lon Burr, vice president of facilities at Grand Casino Mille Lacs.  “Our Lend a Hand program will accomplish in six hours a process that normally takes several days and the need to close the camp.  We’re so glad to be able to make a difference for this deserving organization.”
In addition to donations from Associates and Guests, local companies including Jim’s Mille Lacs Disposal, Inc., Napa Auto, AmSam, Dalco, G&K Services, Hillyard, Eagle Rock/Staples and Cole Paper are contributing goods to the effort.
