Blackhoof-Sandy Lake news: September 21, 2009 PDF Print E-mail

by Betty Carlson

Thought for the week: “What a nice world this would be if we loved others as we love ourselves.” The Blackhoof-Sandy Lake community lost another old timer, Ferdie Langhorst. His funeral was Saturday at the Emmanuel Lutheran church. There was a large crowd of relatives & friends there. A very dear friend of theirs Arnold Howard from Tenn. came and spent a week with them. His father was in the service with Ferdie.

Other out of town guests were Audrey Hill of Mlps. She spent a couple days with her sister Shirley, then went to Superior to visit at the Geo. LaValley home for a couple of days. Greg Joseph of Virginia called at Shirley Langhorst following the funeral.

Monday callers at Shirley Langhorst were Emil & Linda Laine of Kettle River, Gorden Westendorf, Chris & Mandy Resberg, Erin & Josie Langhorst and Angel Finifrock.

Last Thursday Sidney & Loretta Dahlin and Mr. & Mrs. Richard Oswell, all of Cambridge and Mr. & Mrs. Larry Oswell of St. Cloud, Mr. & Mrs. Zentkoswski of California and Joann Manuse of Cloquet, were all visitors at Tiny & Anna Oswell.

Mark Anderson & daughter of Morris, MN visited at Tiny & Anna Oswell on Friday.

Gary Wieck of Florida called on Tiny & Anna Oswell Sunday, afternoon.

The Barnum Methodist church was packed with many relatives & friends Saturday afternoon to honor Willis & Kay Finifrock on their 50th Anniversary. It was nearly wall to wall people. I’m sure there were over 300 people there.

Mark, thank you so much for what you did for me.

Ed & Alipi Henninger visited at Neal & Shari Davis in Bemidji, Monday.

Monday morning Don & Irene Peterson visited with Dick Peterson in Moose Lake.

Last Wednesday Don & Irene peterson along with Bill & Kelly Jo Spalding & Mason went out for supper at Gampers in Moose Lake to help Bill celebrate his birthday. Afterward they went back to Bill & Kelly Jo’s in Kerrick for birthday coke & coffee.
