Highway 61 Voted One of Most Scenic Roads in Nation

The men and women who should know America best... U.S. travel officials who are members of the National Association of Travel Organizations... voted the Lake Superior North Shore Drive into a tie for second place in a poll to determine the most scenic of all of Ameria’s major highways.

Auction gains $27,000 for fish

An auction of confiscated hunting and fishing equipment held by the Department of Natural Resources in St. Paul August 25 resulted in the sale of some 400 items and produced nearly $27,000 for the State Game and Fish Fund.

DNR Enforcement officials estimated that 400-500 persons attended the auction which was held in the St. Paul National Guard Armory.

Highest prices were received for a .357 Colt Python revolver and two Browning shotguns, each of which sold for $400.

Sampo Beach Association will hold their annual Mojakka Day

Saturday, September 11th from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  In addition to the Mojakka lunch there will be music by Mae and Marie, a quilt raffle, bake table, door prizes and flea market.   Lunch is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 10 years and under.  Sampo Beach is located at 7095 Saginaw Road, Saginaw MN 55779.
