Labor negotiations progress; letter of intent extended

Augustana Care Corporation of Minneapolis and the two primary unions representing nursing home employees at Mercy Hospital & Health Care Center have made progress in labor negotiations, reaching a tentative agreement on the economic terms of new contracts. Negotiations continue on other contract issues.

With negotiations still underway, the Letter of Intent for the sale of Mercy’s nursing home and Kenwood Place to Augustana has been extended to November 30, 2009. The agreement was set to expire at the end of October.

“While there is still much work to do, we are hopeful that labor negotiations will continue to move forward, resulting in the successful sale of the nursing home and Kenwood Place. Maintaining services for the residents and keeping jobs in Moose Lake has been the goal throughout the process,” said both Tim Tucker, CEO for Augustana and Jason Douglas, CEO for Mercy Hospital & Health Care Center.
