According to statistics from the U.N., approximately 27 million people languish in slavery today; more than at any other time in history. A majority of those enslaved are women and children to fuel the world-wide commercial sex trade. Human-trafficking is the fastest growing and third largest criminal enterprise in the world behind drugs and weapons, with an estimated annual value of 32 billion dollars. In the United States 17,000-20,000 children are forced into sex slavery each year, along with the hundreds of thousands already a part of this illicit industry (Hope Project, 2009).
At the End of Slavery-The Battle for Justice in Our Time, Narrated by actor Danny Glover, takes you inside the violent and ugly business of slavery, from the brothels of the a Philippines to the brick kilns of India. Undercover footage, first-person testimony from former slaves and respected experts expose the enormity of the crime-but a remarkable strategy and the courage of today’s abolitionist, offer hope for a final end to this brutal a trade. At the End of Slavery is a clarion call to every viewer to join the movement to end slavery in our time. A film alone cannot end slavery-but together, we can. Watch and join the fight today. International Justice Mission is a Christian human rights organization dedicated to
seeking justice for those oppressed through out the world. This organization was founded by Gary Haugen, a former prosecutor and head of the investigation into the Rwanda genocide a decade ago. Haugen formed IJM in 1997 and it is at work in 14 countries today. IJM has been successful at gathering and preparing evidence to prosecute those who exploit their victims, rescue of those held in bondage and aftercare for those who were rescued. Today, thousands have been rescued through IJM’s efforts.
