For the last two weeks, Willow River students have been collecting coins to raise money to purchase and donate toys to Toys for Tots in Pine County.  The students and community have done a tremendous job with this charity and have collected more than $3000!  Funds have been matched in part by the Cloquet Wal-Mart, Northview Bank in Willow River, the Willow River School Store and the Willow River Education Association (teachers’ union).

On Friday, December 11, a group of 5 students from the 2nd -6th grade went to the Cloquet Wal-Mart  to purchase toys, clothing and other necessities to make this Christmas great for kids in need.  Student shoppers were met by WDIO Duluth’s Cassie Limpert and Charlene Malin, as well as two soldiers from the Cloquet Armory and Marsha Mlinar of Northview Bank in Willow River.

Students and Staff of Willow River School wish to thank Northview Bank, Cloquet Wal-Mart, the Willow River School Store, the Willow River Education Association and all of the community for their generous donations.  Thank you also to the students and staff who brought in their pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars to aid this very worthy cause!
