Moose Lake Area nips Mora Hinckley FinlaysonThe Moose Lake Area Rebels were able to come on strong with two final period goals to nip the Mora Hinckley Finlayson Mustangs by a score of 2-1 at Riverside Arena on Tues., Dec. 15. The Rebels outshot the Mustangs 28-17 with Austin Lanoue earning the save in goal for MLA. Rejean Carlson paced the Rebels attack with a goal and an assist. Dylan Peterson scored one goal. There was no scoring in the first frame, and only three penalties. The Mustangs Michael Johnstone was the first to go on a hold at 1:30. Nick Dougherty took a rough one at 9:25 as the senior defenseman was tagged for checking from behind and assessed a 10-minute misconduct. The Rebels outshot the Mustangs just 5-3. The big penalty carried over and did result in a goal for the Mustangs on the power play for the only goal of the second period. The power play goal, scored by Chuck Anderson and assisted by Dylan Graves, came at 8:26. It was the lone goal of the period as Mora-Hinckley-Finalyson would hold a slim 1-0 heading to the final frame. The Rebels had outshot the Mustangs 13-8 in the second period, but the Mustangs had the digit lead on the scoreboard. Once again, there were only three penalties in the period. Jeremy Peterson was seated for inerference at 15:46. Peterson went off for boarding at 12:52. Dylan Peterson of MLA was whstiled for slashing at 6:37. No penalty detail was posted for the final frame, but the first Rebel goal came on the power play. Rejean Carlson scored unassisted on the man advantage at 16:36. Dylan Peterson got the game-winner at 4:04. Rejean Carlson completed a two-point night as he was credited with the assist on Peterson’s goal. MLA had outshot the Mustangs 10-6 in the period for 28-17 for the game. Lanoue’s save percentage for the game computed to .941. Rebels fall to Northern LakesThe Moose Lake Area Rebels boys hockey found rough going and the goals hard to get on the road on Thurs., Dec. 17 as they fell 4-1 to Northern Lakes. The Rebels outshot Northern Lakes 29-16 in the game with Austin Lanoue suffering the loss. Joey Berrquist earned the win for Northern Lakes as he made 28 saves. Northern Lakes got off to a 2-0 start. Assisted goal came at 3:02 and 14:02. The home team boosted the lead to 3-0 with a short-handed assisted goal at 110:44 of the second stanza. The Rebels got on the board as Josh Cisar scored on an assisted from Zach Cisar at 15:09 for 4-1. The only goal of the third frame was an assisted power play goal by Northern Lakes at 5:42 for the final 4-1 tally.
